A Sabahan has proudly flown a Warisan flag on top of Mount Kinabalu.
Anderson Ng from Keningau posted the photo on his Facebook on Wednesday.
Attached with the post was a caption that reads “Hidup Warisan!”
He added, “In God We Trust, Unite We Must”, the popular war cry used by Parti Warisan Sabah.
In March 2018, three Mount Kinabalu porters were suspended by the then Barisan Nasional givernment for flying the Warisan flag.
Kinabalu Park manager Yassin Miki signed the letter of suspension of the three guides.
Then State Tourism Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun defended the suspension.
The guides however, received the backing of Warisan President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, who expressed his regret over the incident.
“I found that, there are various places, not only at Mount Kinabalu, but at other functions as well…when there are leaders present…you would see BN flags being distributed and waved around,” he said.
Among others who defended the guides were Penampang Member of Parliament Darell Leiking and Tanjung Aru State Assemblyman Datuk Junz Wong.
“Would the guides have been suspended if they had posed with a BN or UMNO flag?”
The UMNO-led Barisan Nasional goverment subesequently lost the 14th General Election in May 2018.
