Sabah DAP has suffered another setback, as two of its State Assemblymen announced their entry into Warisan.
They are Sri Tanjong Assemblyman Justin Wong and Elopura Assemblyman Calvin Chong.
They resigned from DAP in January, citing a loss of direction in Sabah DAP and internal division within the state chapter for their withdrawal.
Warisan is currently the largest party in Sabah State Legislative Assembly with 19 elected representatives.
Pakatan Harapan is left with 7 representatives- DAP (4), PKR (2) and UPKO (1).
Political analyst Tony Paridi Bagang said the their entry would augur well for Warisan, in line with the party’s aim of securing its position as the party with the most seats in the Sabah assembly.
“Warisan is trying to strengthen their support.”
“In this case, they want to get more Chinese leaders, besides adding on to their numbers.”
“They can also maintain their image as a multi-racial party.”
