Leaders of Sabah DAP met with STAR President, Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Gapari Kitingan on Monday, to discuss flood issues during this rainy season.
The entourage comprised of Chan Foong Hin (Kota Kinabalu MP), Phoong Jin Zhe (ADUN Luyang) and Tan Lee Fatt (ADUN Likas).
When met by reporters, Jeffrey conceded that the situation may have worsened, in view of the heavy rain since early September.
“The situation is becoming weirder and I think that climate change is real. That is why we need a long term solution.”
“Please plant more trees and stop logging.”
”I am sharing this with you because we are one Malaysian family and we should cooperate. We cannot have flash floods like this every year. The situation will worsen if we do not cooperate or share ideas that we have.”
The Sabah DAP entourage then thanked and praised Jeffrey.
“This bi-partisan, cross-party spirit, is a new hope in-line with new Prime Minister Ismail Sabri’s aspirations,” said Chan Foong Hin, as quoted by Jeffrey on his Facebook page.
For the record, this is the second meeting involving DAP with representatives from the GRS administration.
In June this year, a similar meeting was also held with Deputy Chief Minister, Dato’ Sri Bung Moktar Radin.
The meeting was held, also to “discuss flood issues”.
