In an attempt to galvanize support in Sabah, Pakatan Harapan (PH) has roped in former Chief Minister, Tan Sri Musa Aman’s blood in its campaign trail.
The Peninsular-based coalition was seen proudly featuring Datuk Seri Anifah Aman alongside PH Chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in at least two ceramahs last night- an earlier one in Ketiau, Putatan and a later one in Sulaman Sentral, Sepanggar.
In his speech in Putatan, Anifah sang praises of Anwar, urging Sabahans to give the former UMNO Deputy President a chance to lead the country.
“I had joined politics because of Anwar. He was the reason I got involved in politics.”
“Now it’s time for us to change Malaysia, and no one else can do it except Anwar.”
“Give Anwar a chance as Prime Minister,” he said.
A member of Sabah DAP who only wanted to be identified as Lee said that he was shocked by the turn of events.
He attended PH’s event in Sulaman Sentral, Sepanggar.
“I admit that the reception for PH in Sabah is very weak. But to stoop so low is unacceptable.”
“Have Sabahans forgotten how Musa Aman’s 46 corruption charges were suddenly dropped in 2020?”
“As a volunteer who helped PH’s candidates, I feel cheated.”
“I feel that we have been cheating and betraying Sabahans as well.”
For the record, Anifah decided to quit BN in 2018, after Warisan won power in Sabah.
Warisan President, Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Shafie Apdal was then sworn in as Chief Minister, ending Musa’s 15-year grip on Sabah.
In November 2018, Musa was slapped with 35 charges in relation to receiving over RM250 million in kickbacks from timber concessions.
In March 2019, Musa was slapped with another 16 money laundering charges involving RM160 million.
The man dubbed by local political observers as “vacuum cleaner” then disappeared, citing health issues as the reason.
