Warisan Vice Presidents Datuk Peter Anthony and Datuk Junz Wong spent the weekend fisning and resting, according to a Facebook post on Sunday.
“I have always wanted to experience the life of fishermen, so I went fishing with DPA (Datuk Peter Anthony) over the weekend.”
Junz added, Sabahans must appreciate the contribution of our fishermen who have contributed good fresh seafood and fishes for Sabah’s food security and economy.”
When contacted, Junz said they managed to catch a few fishes although some escaped.”
“We got ikan baungs (mystus) and ikan belanaks (mullets) although the sun was really hot.”
“At the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Warisan-led government has been working extremely hard to elevate the livelihoods of fishermen.”
“Sometimes through infrastructure projects like jetties which I work closely together with Datuk Peter.”
“We are also working on advocating fish hatcheries and breeding as it is more sustainable. It is also the way forward by using scientifically proven more efficient ways to produce higher yields.”
Junz and Peter also had curry fish for lunch.
“Peter treated us to his home cooked curry asam fish. Also freshly caught from near the Sipitang river mouth. I will show you the video soon.”
Towards the end, Junz added a light note.
“By the way, don’t call us YB as the State Assembly has been dissolved to pave way for state election in 60 days time. If you see us, just fist bump and call us bro!”
