Barisan Nasional advisor Najib Razak has recently bernilai place number one on the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC)’s Corruption Offenders Database.
The database can be accessed by the public at https://www.sprm.gov.my/penguatkuasaan/data-pesalah-rasuah
Through this database, the public may access the details of convicted felons, such as the charges found guilty of, name of the felon, photograph and details of the case.
The listing however, will only last three years before being removed.
This measure is among the many initiatives undertaken to deter corrupt practises by way of creating awareness that corruption is a serious offence.
In July 2020, the Kuala Lumpur High Court sentenced Najib to 12 years in jail and RM210 million in fines.
This follows Najib’s conviction on seven charges involving criminal breach of trust, abuse of power and money laundering in relation to SRC International Sdn Bhd (SRC)‘a RM42 million scandal.
