Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Sabah Tour on Sunday made no mention of Sabah’s rights.
Speaking to inisabahbah.com, Eric who is a retired civil servant with the Health Ministry said that he attended the Jelajah Harapan event at SM La Salle on Sunday evening.
“Lots of shouting and screaming by speakers from UPKO, DAP and PKR. It’s an evening of how great Anwar is,” said the 72-year-old.
Elaborating further, Eric said that Anwar’s speech do not resonate with him, as the issues he spoke about were Peninsular-based issues.
“He was talking Malay, Islam and Israel. He boasted about the good relationship he has with international Muslim scholars that are pro-Palestine like the late Sheikh Yusof Qardhawi.”
“Maybe he can talk about how Malay and how Muslim he is in Semenanjung. It’s not something Sabahans are interested in.”
Apart from Eric Tan, another attendee, Muhamad Arif said that he has heard a lot about Anwar and was excited to hear him speak.
“I’m quite excited to be here tonight. I have seen Anwar’s videos on TikTok and today I saw him in person.”
However, when asked if he would vote for PH this GE15, the 26-year-old from Petagas said that he was unsure.
“BN? No way.”
“PH? I am undecided yet because politics is very messy.”
“It’s exciting to hear Anwar speak, but I cannot really relate.”
“It seems like all PH is talking about is making Anwar PM. But I want to vote for my future and Sabah’s future. Not vote to make someone PM.”
“I honestly feel that there is a lot of problems in Sabah that should be prioritised like our oil and gas rights.”
In Sandakan, Vivian who is a mother of two attended the Jelajah Harapan event at Hakka Hall, Mile 6 in the afternoon.
Admitting she has been a DAP supporter for the past two General Elections, she also said that it would be a difficult one this GE15.
“Definitely not BN. I am rocket. My whole family is rocket.”
“But this GE15 will be quite difficult because PH is quite weak. Maybe we will go for local party.”
