After being bashed by more than ten thousand comments on Facebook, Kudat PPBM MP Abdul Rahim Bakri has deleted his Facebook post accusing Veveonah Mosibin of lying.
He earlier accused Veveonah of deliberately creating a drama to seek attention and publicity.
“This student (Veveonah) purposely made a drama when in fact it is not true and she only wants attention and publicity,” Rahim said in the Facebook posting.
Rahim is also the Deputy Finance Minister in Muhyiddin Yassin’s Cabinet.
He added in the posting that Veveonah lives in town and her family no longer had a house in the kampung where she claimed to have climbed a tree to sit for the exam.
”They actually stay in town where there is internet. They don’t have a house in Kampung Sepatalang.”
Following Rahim’s accusation, Sabahans took to Facebook to lambast him as a “bully” and a person of “low IQ”.
At around 10pm on Monday, the post was deleted after receiving more than 10,000 comments criticising him.
Veveonah was propelled to fame recently after having posted a video on her YouTube channel three months ago about spending 24 hours up a tree in the jungle in order to get the best internet connection so that she could sit for her exams online.
Rahim meanwhile, is a four-term Member of Parliament for Kudat since 2004. He won the last election under the UMNO/BN ticket but later switched to PPBM in 2019.
His colleague in the government, UMNO Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin had similarly accused Veveonah of being a YouTuber and faking her online exam to garner views for her video channel.
